Wal-Mart Stores reported financial results for fiscal Q2, with better-than-expected earnings and revenue; it also provided guidance for fiscal 2018 and Q3 in line with Street estimates. The retailer posted adjusted earnings of $1.08 per share, excluding one-time items, compared with the prior-year period’s $1.07 per share. Analysts polled by Capital IQ were expecting EPS of $1.07.
Revenue was $123.36 billion, up from $120.85 billion in the same quarter last year. At constant currencies, revenue was $124.4 billion, up from $120.85 billion. The Street view was for revenue of $121.86 billion. The company expects fiscal 2018 EPS of $4.30 – $4.40 versus the Street view of $4.36. For Q3, it sees EPS of $0.90 – $0.98, versus $0.97 EPS that analysts are looking for.
